Every year, Integra Nutrition repositions its budget for Holiday promotional efforts and instead of sending Holiday cards or calendars; we simply give the money to a local family charity.

Honestly, it feels a little selfish because it feels pretty darn good.   As a way to share this “selfish feeling”, I want to personally encourage (some may say challenge) you to give at least $100.00 to a local family charity.

Alpha Lipoic Acid Protects Nerve Tissue

Study finds alpha lipoic acid protects nerve tissue

R-Alpha Lipoic Acid meets the criteria of a complete antioxidant by its ability to quench free radicals, chelate metals, regenerate glutathione andinteract with other antioxidants and regulate genes.

A recent study (Yamada et al., Neurochem Int. 2011) supports the growing evidence that Lipoic Acid has neuroprotective effects in various pathological conditions including brain ischemia and neurodegeneration. It suggests that R-Alpha Lipoic Acid (R-ALA) is capable of a protective function for neurons through its ability to increase the cellular levels of glutathione (Busse E, Drug Res 1992) Glutathione depletion has been associated with neuron death (Sen CK, San Diego: Academic Press, 1999).

Drop Shipping Service

At Integra Nutrition, we believe we only supply quality products but also provide services to help you overcome some of your challenges as a practitioner and clinic (business) owner.  We know the responsibilities can become overwhelming, not the least of which is managing a dispensary.

One of the services we offer is drop shipping to patients.  If a patient requires a particular product not normally in your dispensary, we can ship the product directly to him or her and bill your clinic directly.  The patient will only see a shipping slip without prices and will receive their supplies within 2-3 days. 

You have the peace of mind of knowing your patient has their professional supplements and that you have one less challenge in your day.

Benefit of Higher HDL (Good Cholesterol)

Higher HDL’s (or good cholesterol) is good for a diabetic’s heart

An observational study which explored the records of over 30,000 diabetic patients added to the already large body of evidence that raising HDL levels is important for reducing heart attack risk.  After obtaining cholesterol measurement, patients were monitored for eight years to see if they were hospitalized for a heart attack or stroke.  It was reported that patients whose HDL levels increase (22%) had 8% fewer heart attacks and strokes than patients whose HDL levels remained the same (61%).  Patients whose HDL levels had decreased (17%) had 11% more heart attacks and strokes.

This was concluded as good news for patients with diabetes who already have an increased risk for heart problems.  Raising good cholesterol may be one more way for these patients to reduce their risk.  Nichols et al, Change in the High Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol Risk Among Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitis, Am.
